Our sweet Lylia got new glasses! A little over a month ago they did a vision test at Lylia's preschool. All the other kids passed except Lylia, so they wanted us to get her in to see an optometrist. So we made an appointment to see a specialist and we found out that Lylia has to wear glasses for now on! We also found out that Lylia has a tilted eye and in order to strengthen it she has to wear an eye patch all day every day for a month, and then we will go to the eye doctor again and they will tell us if she needs to wear it longer. We are so thankful we found out about this before she starts school because we want her to get use to it. She is very embarrassed about wearing an eye patch and that breaks my heart. We have had several cry sessions but I know it will get easier for us both. What pains me the most is when she says she can't see anything out of her bad eye because it is so weak. I've had to help her out a lot but that is something I don't mind doing. Tomorrow is her first day in preschool with her patch and I am just hoping that she will be her normal bubbly self! Next week we are throwing her a Pirate Party and she is so excited about it. She got to pick out her glasses and she loves that they are barbie, and purple, and have rhinestones on the sides!

That's a good point about being lucky to find it now when she is just in preschool so that hopefully it will be all worked out by Kindergarten! She is a sweetheart and it is really sad that she has to go through this, but she is so cute and so friendly I know that she will make it through just great. I'm thinking of you guys and praying for her that the transition into preschool again will be easy. love you!
I think Lylia looks beautiful in her glasses! And I think the pirate party is such a great idea, too. It will make things seem fun and normal for her. She can get lots of positive attention with some pirate talk on a daily basis. And she can know that it is temporary, by marking off the days to the next eye appointment. Then if she has to wear it longer, she can go get some new stickers or something! What a sweet girl!
