The Day of the Great Rebellion

It was so hot, can you tell by how red Lylia's cheeks are?
So I was talking to my sister about what we would call our party! And she came up with The Great Rebellion!  I was going to call it the Day of Enlightenment but neither Justin nor my sister thought it was funny! I told it to a friend at the BBQ and she laughed! Guess I know why she is my friend now! lol.
Our morning started off with a history of how the United States became the United States of America! Justin was so impressed by my knowledge of our American history that he gave me a kiss after words and told me he learned some new stuff! I guess my history teachers would be proud! I did after all take American Revolution/ and Civil War class! And living so close to so many history landmarks, I got to visit a good number of the places I learned about! That is one reason I have such a love of history and a love for our Country! Happy Independence day!

Nothing better than the American flag and some Twizzlers!
We decided to have a co-BBQ with our neighbors downstairs. In all we had about 35 people I think! It was fun to have people drive by and honk at us showing they like our American decor and love for our Country!

My favorite decoration was the ode to the Queen & King of England! Could you expect less from a family that LOVES England?! I think not! I am so grateful to live in America, but we still have a special place in our heart for England!

Look at our spread!

I have to admit all of my good ideas came from Pinterest! These are frozen grapes on kabob sticks dyed in water with food coloring! They were soooooo good!!!!! Don't they look like fireworks coming out of a jar!?!

Our friends the Olsen's brought these festive strawberries, and they were quick to go!

Yet again another Pinterest! I just thought it was so cute I had to make  the American flag out of fruit! I just realized I didn't take a picture of my awesome cupcakes! Another idea stole from Pinterest! I made the cupcake stand out of plates from the dollar store and the cupcake frosting had red and blue pop rocks mixed in with sprinkles! They were awesome! They popped the whole day, and especially in your mouth! I made red velvet cupcakes! Can you tell they were my pride and joy and I don't have a picture! Its the little things that matter!
Tiffany and Chris Burton with daughter and son!

Juli & Clark King!

Wish I knew their names but I was too embarassed to ask! The sister on the right is a new sister in our war though! Her name is Sis. Johnson (I'm terrible with names right now)

From left to right: Ali Olsen with her kids, Wendy, and Sheila Brown

Me and my Lylia!

Sarah and Nate Bringhurst!

Laura and Grant Crawford! A testimony that visiting teaching can create life time friendships!  Right now we are each other's visiting teachers! Funny huh?!

See our dollar store decorations!

It had just finished pouring down rain. And Isaac King was smoking us out on the porch so we sent him to be a Pyrotechnic  somewhere else!

From left: Nate Bringhurst, Stacee Burrow,Ryan Stephenson, Bro. Olsen, Irv Summers, me I think, Katie Minharo, Laura Waite, Sarah Bringhurts, Michael Burrow and James Waite

Love this picture! Lylia with her sunbeam friends! She had a blast!

Once it started raining Lylia went in and changed into something a little more suitable for being wet! lol. Love this picture of them holding the flag all together!

Smores and homemade ice cream for dessert!
Doing smores!

Okay my other favorite picture! Adeline putting her head on Lylia!

Lylia's first sparkler ever!

She loved them! She was very safe with them though!

She just kept wanting more and more! Don't worry they were safe!

You are so amazing! I wish I lived close by and could come to your barbecues. I'm so impressed that you get out of your comfort zone and invite new friends and get to know new people! Your party looks fantastic and I am also so impressed by how you used all those fun ideas you've pinned. Good for you! Like I said, I am totally in awe (and maybe a little jealous, too). :)

I think the frozen grape idea is GENIUS! Looks so refreshing and delicious, while matching the decor too. Lylia is so adorable. I bet she has tons of friends. Wish we could have come, looks like a bbq to remember!
