Special Grandma Cathy

Cathy is Justin's mother who passed away shortly before Justin left on his mission. Before she passed I was able to spend some time with her off and on, and knew from the first time I met her that she was most beloved by our Heavenly Father. I had a few special experiences with Cathy shortly before she passed that are dear to me, and very sacred in nature, so I won't share them, but I will say that I do not doubt that she is near, and watching over my Lylia when I am not around. When Justin was on his mission and I would ache for him, and worry over him, I would pray that someone would watch over and be near him always, and without delay the Spirit told me that Justin was being watched and loved for by Cathy. My mind would always be put to ease and I knew it was true.

I love hearing Justin tell me about things that he thinks we are similar. Such as he loved when he would come home and find her sewing and he would sit and talk with her. He loves how I will be like that for our kids. Justin also loves that I buy him rootbeer and icecream just like his mom use to so he could make Rootbeer floats. There are many things that Cathy did that I am no where near as good at, but I am glad we have things in common.

We want Lylia to know all of her grandparents especially the ones that aren't near us. We talk about all her grandparents at one time or the other, but several months ago we were explaining to her about her Special Grandma Cathy, and how she lives in Heaven with Heavenly Father. Justin loves to sing songs that she use to sing to him, and he loves to play with Lylia like Cathy did with him.

The other day I was making dinner, and setting the table, and Lylia had just requested from daddy a fresh cup of chocolate milk in which she was more than excited to drink all up. Well as I continued to set the table, she saw the rootbeer come out of the fridge and I could tell she was thinking about it. A few minutes go by and she comes in from the other room and says, "Mommy do you know what Special Grandma Cathy said I could have?" I said, "What is that?" She said, "Special Grandma Cathy said that I could have rootbeer and chocolate milk for dinner!" I said, "Well I guess we better do it then."

I told Justin and we were talking about it, and how she very well could have told Lylia that. As we know she is near. So lucky to Lylia that we doubt not that Special Grandma is just watching out for her and making sure she gets the rootbeer that she use to give to Justin. But I think Lylia may start to use it for her advantage. She is after all that smart. Just wanted to write down this memory because Justin and I loved it so much.

I'm glad to see you post these little things so that you can go back to them and remember :o) So now if you will excuse me...I think I will go and grab myself a root beer too!
