Nose plug please!

My supervisor a few weeks ago was walking me around the office trying to help me familiarize myself with it, and we went by a door where someone opened the door and did this:

I was thinking, what was that, I just got sprayed in the face. Then my supervisor quietly told me that the boss smokes in her office.

So a few hours later when I met with my boss for the first time she went over the office expectations. One of which she stated, "Everyone laughs at me when I go over this one." No smoking in the office. She then proceeded to tell me she smokes in her office with the window open and the door closed. I thought hmmm interesting. That can't be against the law. lol.

So since then I have discovered that this is how much she smokes a day! I had to buy a little stick deodorizer to put in my office, and I open the window and it still doesn't help. So today I decided to do the unthinkable. Yes I did. I e-mailed HR and said I would like to complain annoymously. I just did it today so wish me luck. She is going to know it is me merely for the fact that everyone else here smokes, and two because I am the newest and everyone else here has worked for years. More than I can say. So maybe I will have a job in a week or so, but maybe not, and at this point I hate to say this, but claiming unemployment would be better than working here! They don't think I am capable of doing anything and that is very frustrating to me since I thrive in working. But I am trying to make each day better and tell myself that I am in it for the long haul, but boy it is days like today that I spent way too much time like this:

I think you did the right think Kelly. There's a reason there are indoor clean air laws. In a way she's violating your work space and right to breathe clean air!

I could quote several laws about your boss being so wrong and if they fire you, you could get unemployment and even sue (not that you would). But you are protected by several laws. I will pray that it works out for the best. Good luck!
